Saint Louis University Pediatric Clinic

"Reach Out and Read" is an annual summer program where CRC members read to and play with children at a free pediatric clinic run by the St. Louis University Medical School.

SLU Pediatric Clinic at Victor Roberts Building, suite 213
1408 Kingshighway
Adults and teens (age 16+) needed!

The Saint Louis University Medical School Pediatric Clinic is run by second-year SLU medical students, who take vital signs and medical histories, do physical exams, and give immunizations to children. Every summer the clinic serves hundreds of children.

Because of the huge demand, the waiting room is very busy. By reading to the children—many of whom don’t have books at home—we encourage literacy and help keep the clinic waiting room calm—so staff can focus on providing the best medical care. Every child who visits the clinic receives a book to take home. 2011 is the third year CRC has been asked to provide volunteers for this program.
