a Jewish presence in the City of St. Louis

Social Responsibility

CRC members during the 2017 STL Women's March

Throughout our history, CRC has been a shelter of peace where everyone is warmly welcomed. But we have also been a bridge to the larger community, with a commitment to the Jewish principle of "Tikkun Olam" - "repair of the world." We understand and accept our responsibility to be a part of the solution in our neighborhoods, our city, and our world.

Our Tikkun Olam Steering Committee coordinates a variety of social responsibility projects for CRC members and friends. Our programs range from direct service - such as reading to children at a local pediatric health clinic - to advocacy - such as advocating for policies that help more people access quality health care. We have programs for families to do together and others that are ideal for different age groups.

Our programs throughout the year address a broad range of issues but focus on the issues identified as priorities by our biannual Tikkun Olam Survey. On the most recent (2014) Tikkun Olam Survey, the CRC community identified the following issues as our top social action priorities:

  • Increasing Access to Health Care

  • Poverty and Economic Justice

  • Racial Justice

  • Reproductive Rights

  • Immigration and Refugee Issues

We are always looking for volunteers for our social responsibility projects.
